The objective of blackjack is to get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over ("busting"). When you play blackjack, both the dealer and the player get two cards with one of the dealer's cards showing. The player can hit, take more cards, as much as he wants until he busts or is satisfied and stands.

Playing Casino Blackjack For Free
In free blackjack, the player can also double, taking one additional card for twice the original wager, or split if both cards have the same value. Splitting puts up an additional bet, using each of his original cards as the base for a new hand, resulting in two new hands, same as for real money blackjack.
If you get dealt an ace and a ten point card when you play blackjack, you have a blackjack and wins 3-2 as opposed to the normal even money. If the dealer also has blackjack, it is a push and no one wins.
If the dealer has an ace showing, the player may choose to put up a half bet as "insurance" against a dealer blackjack. If the dealer turns up blackjack in this case the player loses nothing, or wins even money if he also has blackjack. If the dealer does not have blackjack, this additional wager is lost.
Basic Ideas in Blackjack
The House has an edge in casino blackjack games because the player has the opportunity to go over and bust before the dealer does. Therefore, the player should give the dealer every opportunity to bust. The dealer must hit any hand 16 or below. If the dealer has a 6 or lower showing, a player will generally want to avoid taking a hit that might result in busting.
